Live Blog: Women's soccer vs. BU

8:07 p.m. - From head coach Ed Matz: "The goal was to accomplish something we hadn't done before and that was beat BU in the regular season. BU was pressing, and it was a good game."

7:54 p.m. - The match is over, and Northeastern staves off the BU rally to win 1-0. Napoli's goal holds up as the game-winner, and Stephanie Gordon has now recorded her fourth shutout in six games this season. She is now tied for third all-time in career shutouts at NU with 11. She continues to lead the CAA in goals against average.

7:53 p.m. - With 1:15 left, BU's Corie Halsz weaved through a crowd and got a shot off, but Gordon pushed it away from the net. On the ensuing corner, the header went wide.

7:52 p.m. - Two minutes remaining. BU was just called for a handball.

7:48 p.m. - BU nearly tied it, but McClernon's shot hit the crossbar. Five minutes to go.

7:46 p.m. - Seven minutes to go. Both teams are aggressive, but the chances haven't been there.

7:39 p.m. - The Terriers have done a good job keeping the potent Huskies offense at bay. NU hasn't had as many opportunities as it did in the first half.

7:35 p.m. - McClernon had a direct kick after an NU foul, but it went straight into Gordon's hands for a save. Gordon now has three saves.

7:29 p.m. - Luscinski took a corner kick for BU, but again the Terriers were denied. A few seconds later, Farrell McClernon took a shot that flew over the net.

7:23 p.m. - Stephanie Gordon made a nice diving stop on a shot by BU's Jessica Luscinski.

7:18 p.m. - BU took another corner kick, but the Huskies foiled the opportunity. BU then had another shot sail wide of the net.

7:17 p.m. - Gabbi Jatkola took a shot from the point, but the BU keeper got a hand on it at the left corner of the net.

7:09 p.m. - The first corner of the game was taken by BU's Corie Halasz, but her kick was headed away from the goal.

7:08 p.m. - The second half is underway.

6:57 p.m. - Tomorrow will be jam packed with action at Parsons Field. The football team hosts Youngstown State at 1 p.m., and the men's soccer team hosts Massachusetts at 6 p.m. Both games will have live video on GoNU.TV. The football game can be heard live on Huskies Radio 1550 AM and WRBB Radio 104.9 FM. The Huskies Insider will live blog the football game.

6:50 p.m. - Halftime at Parsons Field. The Huskies lead 1-0. NU has four shots on goal to BU's one.

6:40 p.m. - With less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, BU has taken seven shots to NU's six.

6:33 p.m. - Magnusdottir cut past two defenders and got off a shot at about the 15-yard marker, but it was wide right.

6:29 p.m. - A flurry of action in less than a minute. The Huskies had two good looks at the net with BU keeper Janie Reilly out of position, but a BU defender blocked a Napoli shot. Then back on the other side, BU's Taleen Dimiridjian was near the net and sent a shot wide. NU's Magnusdottir was called for a yellow card. On the free kick, BU's cross to the net went past the net and was headed out of bounds.

6:24 p.m. - NU had another chance as Devin Petta fed a pass by a BU defender to Napoli at the 10-yard marker, but she wasn't able to get off a clean shot.

6:18 p.m. - BU has had a few opportunities, but the Terriers haven't been able to cross the ball well.

6:13 p.m. - On their first scoring chance of the game, the Huskies scored as Sandra Magnusdottir fed Veronica Napoli to the left of the goal, and Napoli faked out her defender and got a shot off that found the back of the net to the goalkeeper's right. For Napoli, it's her first goal of the year. As only a sophomore, she is now tied with Kate Mercier (1997-00) for eighth all-time in goals at NU.

6:10 p.m. - BU's Jessica Luscinski took a direct kick after an NU foul, but her kick sailed wide right of the net.

6:08 p.m. - No scoring chances yet. BU was just called offsides. The crowd is growing. Members of the women's basketball team are here, including Taryn Christian and Jamie Conroy.

6:03 p.m. - The match is underway as Northeastern hits the ball into the BU zone.

6:00 p.m. - Before the national anthem, a moment of silence was observed for NCAA President Myles Brand, who passed away Wednesday.

5:55 p.m. - The starting lineups are being announced. Starting for the Huskies are Danielle Gordon, Sandra Magnusdottir, Lesley Condie, Devin Petta, Veronica Napoli, Tinna Nielsen, Liza Rebello, Kelly Matthews, Kristen Blake, Gabbi Jatkola and Stephanie Gordon in net.

5:43 p.m. - Live from Parsons Field, tonight the Huskies will take on Boston University. Both teams are on the field warming up, and there are approximately 50 people in the stands, getting ready to see what should be an exciting match. The Huskies come into the game with a 4-1-0 record and are ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region poll. The Terriers are 2-3-2, but have played some stiff competition. They have already played three nationally ranked teams.
