3:52 p.m. - The Huskies resume CAA conference action when Northeastern travels to Philadelphia for a 3:30 p.m. affair at Villanova next Saturday, Sept. 26.
3:51 p.m. - Youngstown takes a knee to run out the clock and secure a 38-21 victory. Northeastern drops to 0-3 while the Penguins improve to 2-1.
3:49 p.m. - On 4th and 10, Dulski shed four Penguin pursuers, but his run fell one yard short, turning the ball back over to YSU with about 30 seconds left.
3:42 p.m. - Elijah Harris brings the ball out to the 25-yard line as NU has 1:24 left to stage any sort of comeback.
3:40 p.m. - Brandon Summers baited NU's defense to the left side and then changed directions to the right for a 73-yard touchdown run, closing out a six-play, 93-yard drive in 1:48. Youngstown State leads 38-21 with 1:30 left.
3:38 p.m. - Northeastern calls its final timeout of the half with a 3rd and 10 facing the defense. 1:44 is left in the contest.
3:36 p.m. - YSU's Dana Brown discovers a few holes and makes his way for 17 yards up the right side inch closer to a Penguins victory.
3:34 p.m. - On 3rd and 7 with 3:05 left in the game, Northeastern calls a timeout to rally the defense and devise a plan.
3:32 p.m. - Greg Abelli made an eye-popping, one-armed catch for 27 yards to bring the ball closer to the endzone. On 4th and 2 with 3:18 on the clock, Youngstown State snuffed out Matt Carroll's carry and resumed possession on its own seven-yard line with a 31-21 lead.
3:30 p.m. - Matt Carroll enters the game on 3rd and 1 and gets the first down on the QB keeper. The Huskies are sitting pretty on the YSU 43-yard line.
3:29 p.m. - On a crucial 3rd and 10, Dulski connected with senior tight end Ty Sibert for 18 yards and a first down.
3:25 p.m. - The Huskies take over the ball on YSU's 28-yard line after the score. A 40-yard bomb by Dulski on the first play from scrimmage fell incomplete.
3:22 p.m. - YSU is faced with a 4th and 1 situation at the goal line with about seven minutes left, but Summers crossed the plane on the next play to go up 31-20, capping a seven-play, 22 yard drive that went for 4:05.
3:20 p.m. - On a decisive snap Dominique Barnes collects a pass from Summers on an out pattern for a first down to stop the clock at 9:00 after getting shoved out of bounds. The ball rests on NU's 10-yard line.
3:17 p.m. - With NU backed up into its own territory, YSU takes over on the Huskies' 22-yard line with about 10:30 left.
3:15 p.m. - Na'eem Outler chalked up YSU's second-straight tackle-for-loss, this time a nine-yard sack to push the Huskies' back to their eight-yard line. The Huskies' opt to punt on 4th and 20 around the 11-minute mark.
3:13 p.m. - Craig Kenney steps up huge again with a four-yard tackle-for-loss on 3rd and 1, forcing the Penguins to punt. The Huskies resume possession on the 20-yard line.
3:11 p.m. - YSU takes over on its 27-yard line as the third quarter comes to a close with the Penguins clinging onto a three-point cushion, 24-21.
3:08 p.m. - Sophomore Tony Torres took the next snap to the house to bring Northeastern within three, 24-21, with 30 seconds left in the third. The 12-play, 60-yard drive lasted 5:10.
3:07 p.m. - On 3rd and 5, Dulski eluded heavy pressure for a nine-yard gain down to YSU's two-yard line with 40 seconds left in the third.
3:05 p.m. - A fake reverse moved the chains once again, down to the opponents' 16-yard line with 2:29 left.
3:04 p.m. - Ron Conway hauled in a 14-yard pass on 3rd and 5 to get the Huskies within striking distance, down to YSU's 31-yard line.
3:00 p.m. - Coach Hager tried a flea flicker from YSU's 45-yard line, but unfortunately Dulski couldn't find anyone open with 4:03 left in the third.
2:59 p.m. - Junior Daryl Jones returned the favor to the Penguins by picking off Summers on the very next play to give the Huskies' possession on Youngstown State's 40-yard line.
2:57 p.m. - Sir Demarco Bledsoe registered his first career interception after Dulski made his first pass attempt on NU's drive.
2:56 p.m. - Steven Murray Sesay brought the ball out for a nice return on the kick, setting up NU shop at the 36-yard line with 6:25 left on the scoreboard.
2:53 p.m. - On third and 11, Dulski was flushed out of the pocket and forced to make a cross-body pass in the middle of the field. Andre Elliott was waiting for the toss-up and ran back the interception for 30 yards to paydirt to go up 24-14 with 6:32 left to go in the third quarter.
2:52 p.m. - After an NU first down, Elijah Harris was stuffed by Luke Matelan for a one-yard loss with seven minutes remaining in the third.
2:49 p.m. - On third and nine, David Akinniyi registered a four-yard sack to force the Penguins to punt it away. Youngstown State pinned the Huskies down on their own 13-yard line with 8:34 on the clock in the third frame.
2:48 p.m. - The Penguins take over on their own 42-yard line with about 10 minutes to play in the third quarter.
2:47 p.m. - On 3rd and 7, Dulski unleashed a bomb to Greg Abelli, but the junior wideout couldn't come down with it, forcing Ron Conway to punt it away.
2:45 p.m. - Northeastern takes over on its own 31-yard line after a nice little return.
2:43 p.m. - After two Huskies stops the YSU field goal unit took the field and Stephen Blose put the 36 yarder through the uprights. The Penguins' take their first lead of the game, 17-14, with 11:30 left in the third quarter.
2:41 p.m. - Shaking off a false start call, Campbell hit receiver Aaron Pitts for 11 yards. Pitts tiptoed on the sideline for a nice grab.
2:39 p.m. - Penguins' Dana Brown rushed up the middle for 13 yards and a YSU first down. On the next play a 16 yard completion put the Penguins on the Northeastern 25.
2:38 p.m. - YSU starts with a draw from QB Dailyn Campbell for eight. On the next play the Penguins are penalized for too many men in the backfield and lost a first down opportunity.
2:36 p.m. - YSU opens the half with an onside kick recovered by Penguins' cornerback Brandian Ross. They will start their drive from their 43-yard line.
2:34 p.m. - The two teams return to the field to start the second half with the game tied at 14.
2:15 p.m. - Northeastern has one second remaining to take a final shot at the endzone for YSU's 49-yard line. Dulski found the endzone on the final pitch, but Sir Demarco Bledsoe broke up the attempt to keep the game at a deadlock, 14-14, to end the first half of action.
2:11 p.m. - After a nine-yard gain from a Dulski scant up the gut, Northeastern burns its first time out of the half facing a 2nd and 1 situation with 13 ticks left on the board.
2:10 p.m. - From the NU 19-yard line, John Griffin broke free for 20 yards down the left side with 21 seconds remaining in the first half.
2:07 p.m. - On 2nd and 10, Summers connected with Dominique Barnes for a 32-yard touchdown with 36 seconds on the clock to tie the game, 14-14, capping a 50-yard drive in four plays that elapse 25 seconds.
2:05 p.m. - Matt Carroll and Jordan Griffin muffed the handoff on 3rd and 1 and YSU's Jordan Edwards jumped on the loose ball around midfield to thwart NU's progression.
2:04 p.m. - Dulski discovers NU wideout Adhir Ravipati for consecutive completions of 12 and eight yards to move to the Northeastern 49-yard line.
2:01 p.m. - A hole opens up for Alex Dulski on 3rd and 4 and the NU field general dashed for 12 yards to the NU 30-yard line.
1:58 p.m. - A 13-yard sack by Phil Higgins forced Youngstown State to punt and the Huskies regain possession on their own 14-yard line.
1:54 p.m. - The Penguins take over on their own 40-yard line. YSU's offense has connected and moved up to Northeastern's 29-yard line with 6:08 to play.
1:52 p.m. - On the very next play, Alex Dulski resumed his duties and delivered a perfect 35-yard touchdown strike over the top to cap a 10-play, 80-yard drive in 3:32 to go ahead, 14-7, with 7:43 left in the first half.
1:50 p.m. - After a Tony Torres carry brings out the chain crew, Coach Hager elects to go for a fourth-and inches on YSU's 38-yard line. NU's other quarterback, redshirt freshman Matt Carroll nudges forward for the first down to the YSU 35-yard line.
1:48 p.m. - NU cross into YSU real estate on a first down catch by Ron Conway to the 47-yard line.
1:46 p.m. - Tony Lott hauls in a nine-yard pass for a first down, giving way to another first down for Northeastern, pushing the ball out to the NU 42-yard line.
1:42 p.m. - The Huskies defense stood tall on a 3rd and 7 situation, forcing an incomplete pass. YSU's Stephen Blose lined up to take the kick but a delay of game forced the Penguins to punt. A touchback give Northeastern the ball at YSU's 20-yard line.
1:40 p.m. - Youngstown State defense holds the Huskies to a three-and-out situation. Ron Conway delivered a 17-yard punt to give the Penguins possession in Huskies' territory at the 33-yard line with 12:11 to go in the first half.
1:38 p.m. - After a wobbly kick was delivered, Elijah Harris dropped the ball, but recovered it and pushed it out to the NU 13-yard line with 13:32 to play in the half.
1:36 p.m. - On the next play, YSU put together a reverse where Aaron Pitts made a pass to Brandon Summers down to the NU one-yard line. Summers punched it in two plays later to knot the game at 7-7 with 13:42 after a successful PAT.
1:34 p.m. - Aaron Pitts gets up to make a nice 12-yard catch from Summers to keep the drive going.
1:32 p.m. - The Huskies hold an early edge, 7-0, as the first quarter comes to an end. Youngstown State faces a 3rd and 5 situation on Northeastern's 32-yard line to begin the second stanza.
1:30 p.m. - New quarterback for the Penguins - sophomore Dailyn Campbell. Campbell caught NU's defense and finagled a 14-yard run through the middle of the field, moving the ball to the YSU 46-yard line.
1:28 p.m. - On 3rd and 1, YSU's Kevin Smith punched it for one hash mark to keep the Penguins' drive alive.
1:25 p.m. - After a perfect 45-yard spiral from Ron Conway's foot, the Penguins take over on their own 16-yard line with 4:36 to go in the first quarter.
1:24 p.m. - Dulski broke through on 3rd and 18, but a holding penalty negated the nice sprint.
1:23 p.m. - On 2nd and 3, NU quarterback Alex Dulski runs a keeper up the right side for a first down, but on the next play, Dulski fumbled the snap for a loss of seven yards with 6:00 remaining in the opening frame.
1:20 p.m. - Craig Kenney registered his third tackle of the game, a nine-yard sack to force a 3rd and 18 for the Penguins - Nate Thellen picked off Summers on the next play and Northeastern resumes possession on the YSU six-yard line.
1:18 p.m. - Dominique Barnes hauls in another Summers' pass on 3rd and 3 and a facemask penalty from Emmanuel Matthews moved YSU half the distance to the goal, up to the NU nine-yard line with 8:40 on the clock in the first quarter.
1:17 p.m. - Brandon Summers completes a 15-yard pass to Donald Jones on 3rd and 8 to convert another first down when facing a third-down situation.
1:14 p.m. - On 2nd and 5, Youngstown State's Kevin Smith moved the chains on a 14-yard jaunt up the left side for a first down.
1:13 p.m. - The Penguins resume possession at their own 27-yard line.
1:10 p.m. - Senior Tony Lott broke through a hole on the left side and motored down the field for a 76-yard punt return touchdown. Lott's punt return to paydirt marks Northeastern's first one since Nov. 11, 2001. The extra point was good to put the Huskies up, 7-0, with 12:39 on the clock in the first quarter.
1:09 p.m. - YSU quarterback Brandon Summers is stopped on 3rd and 7 after he was rushed out of the pocket. NU's Craig Kenney delivered the tackle to force a YSU punt.
1:07 p.m. - Mat Johnson delivers a short kick, but NU's Alton Bradley made a nice stick to initiate YSU's drive at its own 31-yard line.
1:04 p.m. - Youngstown takes the field before the Huskies streak onto the turf. The officials meet with the team's captains at the 50-yard line. Northeastern wins the toss and defers to Youngstown State.
1:00 p.m. - All in attendance have taken a moment of silence for the late Myles Brand of the NCAA right before the national anthem.
12:57 p.m. - Paws, Northeastern's mascot is standing out with the NU cheerleading team waiting for the Huskies to grace the gridiron.
12:53 p.m. - After some sturdy play from redshirt freshman Matt Carroll, it appears that junior quarterback Alex Dulski will return to the huddle as the Northeasterns signal caller for today's affair. Dulski suffered an injury in the season opener at Boston College two weeks ago and has been cleared to play today.
12:46 p.m. - Both teams have retreated back to their locker rooms while the officials meet, the coaches mingle and the crowd prepares for a great day of football.
12:36 p.m. - Last nights heavy winds are still blowing at Parsons Field and will most likely play a factor in today's contest. The wind is blowing in from the far endzone.
12:32 p.m. - The Huskies look amped to get their third game underway. Their helmets are shining under the sun and they are chanting in unison during their warm-ups. Today's game should be action packed with a lot of red on the field. NU is donning its red tops while the Penguins are sporting red helmets and red pants.
12:27 p.m. - Food for thought on the NU - YSU series:
• This is the 10th meeting between the two clubs
• The Penguins lead, 6-3, all-time, but the last time the two teams met in Brookline, Mass. was in 1992 when Northeastern topped then defending national champions, 28-23
• NU's head coach Rocky Hager is 1-0 against Youngstown State while YSU's Jon Heacock is 1-0
12:15 p.m. - If only the Huskies had today's weather in their home opener last weekend. Northeastern welcomes Youngstown State in a non-conference bout on a picture-perfect Saturday at Parsons Field at 1 p.m. The Huskies are in search of their first victory of the season after losing to No. 20 Maine in the home opener, 17-7. The Penguins secured their first win against Austin Peay in their home opener game last week, 38-21. Northeastern is 0-2 while YSU is 1-1.
